Expressions of Interest Open for U18 Boys’ and Girls’ Tournaments 2027

Be part of the next generation of Sevens at the birthplace of the game.

Melrose Sevens is inviting expressions of interest from clubs and teams wishing to take part in both our U18 boys’ and U18 girls’ tournaments on Friday 21st May 2027, with the finals taking place at the Greenyards on Saturday 22nd May.

Following the successful expansion of our U18 boys’ competition, we are delighted to be introducing a dedicated U18 girls’ tournament for 2027. It marks another important step in our ambition to create opportunities for young players and ensure the next generation is at the heart of the Melrose Sevens weekend.

Two Tournaments. One Historic Stage.

Our 2027 plans include a 16-team U18 boys’ tournament and an 8-team U18 girls’ tournament, bringing together talented young players for a competitive and memorable Sevens experience.

Both tournaments will take place on Friday, with the boys’ and girls’ finals played on the historic Greenyards on Saturday as part of the main Melrose Sevens programme.

For young players, it is an opportunity to experience Sevens at the place where the game began in 1883, compete against teams from across the country and beyond, and be part of one of rugby’s most celebrated weekends.

More Than a Tournament

Friday at Melrose Sevens is being developed as a day for the next generation and their families. Alongside the U18 boys’ and girls’ rugby, visitors will be able to enjoy our Family Food Village, rugby clinics and entertainment, creating a welcoming experience for players, coaches, families and supporters.

The addition of the girls’ competition is an exciting part of our continued investment in youth rugby and our commitment to growing opportunities for both boys and girls to experience the game.

Register Your Interest

We would love to hear from clubs interested in entering either the U18 boys’ or U18 girls’ tournament. Expressions of interest are open to teams across Scotland, the UK and further afield.

To help us plan the competitions, please complete our expression of interest form with your club name, team details, preferred tournament and contact information.

Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee a place. Our tournament team will review interest and share further details about the selection process, competition format and next steps in due course.
